Our cottage is mid way between Tofino centre and Chesterman's Beach (one of our famous Surf beaches) and more or less across from Mackenzie Beach. The bike path goes in both directions and we offer bicycles for our guests to use if they don't feel like walking the twenty minutes or driving the five minutes to Chesterman beach or the village. After a day of surfing or whale watching our guests love to warm up in our hot tub, which is set in a beautiful private forest glade overlooking the water. Our five acre forested property is magnificent; there are trees that are over 300 years old, both cedar and spruce, and the property borders the tidal waters of Tofino Inlet. At high or low tide this provincially designated wildlife sanctuary is a bread basket for innumerable species of birds in spring and fall. It is also the habitat of Black Bear, River Otters, mink & raccoons as well as a pair of eagles, which have a longstanding nest in a giant spruce on the property. The views over the water are always changing; at low tide it looks like an endless green lawn extending for miles between the islands and we often see wolves out on the flats, and at high tide it is back to the sea again and then it is time to launch a canoe and go exploring. You can check out photos of the cottage by googling Red Crow in Tofino.

Property Information

Year Purchased: 1991

About the owner: We have owned our five acre property since 1989 and the cottage was built in 1991 and is detailed with cedar cut from the property. We run the the Red Crow Guest House (on the same property), which along with our cottage is available Spring thru Fall; over the past 20+ years we have hosted wonderful guests from all over the world.

Why the Owner Chose Tofino: This is the most stunning piece of inlet property with magnificent huge ancient cedars, many over 400 years old; there is a magic about this land that captivated me the moment I stepped onto it and we built our house here with much care so as to disturb the beauty and integrity of the property as little as possible.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: This property offers a tranquility and privacy and is a place where you can settle in and take it easy for a while. The abundance of cedar detailing makes the cottage feel warm and cozy but it is spacious enough for people to spread out and enjoy different activities in different areas. You can enjoy a game of checkers or chess at the board table in the kitchen/dining room or lounge on the bench seat or just daydream out the window while curled up on the sweet window seat in the living room. The bed alcove overlooking the garden is a delicious place to wake up and enjoy coffee in bed. You will find that time seems to stand still in this little oasis.

The Red Crow Guesthouse was a terrific find. We had stayed in Tofino at all different types of accommodations many times in years gone by and like most people, typically on the ‘ocean side’. Red Crow...
