Discover Papaya Lake Lodge
Home is not a place… it’s a feeling!
A place surrounded by the lush, evergreen landscapes of the Ugandan Great Crater Lakes region, set between two extinct volcanoes, nestled against the turquoise waters of the Lyantonde and Kifuruka lakes and with exhilarating views over the majestic Ruwenzori Mountain Range.

An oasis of nine luxurious cottages, a restaurant and a beautiful swimming pool with a scenic terrace. A place established with great passion, appreciation of local culture and attention to detail that makes life worth living.

Established by a family who opted to abandon their European life to find a new home in the living heart of Africa; a home inspired by its surroundings and defined by all the best Uganda has to offer, yet beautifully refreshed by its own unique style, and the highest standard of service.

Welcome to PAPAYA LAKE LODGE!

We love to make you feel at home.

Papaya Lake Lodge offers nine spacious and bright cottages. All are situated on the extinct volcano crater’s slope and have breathtaking views of Lyantonde Lake. Each cottage offers complete privacy, hidden from view by a natural screen of green treetops.

Eight of the cottages feature two beds (one king-size and one single), local stone-decorated bathrooms with shower units, and verandas equipped with deckchairs.

The ninth cottage – Family Cottage – is a two-level villa boasting three bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a spacious bathroom and a large terrace. For more details, please contact us.

Calm colours, subtle accessories, original interior design, and simple but comfortable furniture – these are Papaya Lake Lodge’s trademarks. But mainly, it is the lush, green vegetation that makes it so easy to relax after an adventurous day.

A spacious restaurant and a bar opening onto a scenic sun terrace are the real heart of Papaya Lake Lodge.
The airy and bright common area of the restaurant is ingeniously planned with subtly arranged corners, each with its own unique climate and decor. The entire space is decorated with fine pieces of local art and crafts; small details that you instantly fall in love with.

During the day you can enjoy reading on a snug sofa or a terrace sunbed laid out just in front of the restaurant, with a panoramic view of the lake.

Imagine a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The common area lit by kerosene lamps, their orange glow warming the cosy sofas next to the bar. Excellent Ugandan coffee, along with our selection of the finest spirits from around the world, will help you slip into complete relaxation.
