The 16 spacious, tastefully decorated, individual suites are among the most luxurious in the Drakensberg. The peace and quiet, like our homemade chocolates and bread, are quite addictable!Each free-standing suite is decorated in the earthy colours of Africa and has spectacular mountain views. All the suites have tea and coffee making facilities, including a bar fridge for fresh milk. Minibar facility in the suite is available upon request. All suites have a car port for one vehicle.
Situated in the Kwazulu-Natal Drakensberg, halfway between Johannesburg and Durban, Montusi Mountain Lodge is the only upmarket destination in the area with a full and uninterrupted view of the Drakensberg's most famous part, the Amphitheatre escarpment. There are ten Garden Suites which each have a comfortable bedroom with en-suite bathroom (bath and walk in shower), a lounge with a TV, DVD player, gas operated fire place and private patio. Most suites have a kingsize double bed (others with two singles beds) and the Honeymoon Suites have a corner tub for two. The suites all have panoramic views of the Drakensberg’s Amphitheatre.
The Mountain Suites are our newest accommodation: completed in December 2014. The two Mountain Suites are larger and more spacious than the Garden Suites. 15 years of Montusi Experience has resulted in these beautiful modern units. Each one has a bedroom with kingsize double bed; and large bathroom with big bath and separate shower; and an airy lounge with private patio. These suites also have TVs, DVD players and gas fires. The views from the lounge, patio and bedrooms are sweeping and expansive with a backdrop against the majestic Amphitheatre mountain.
The four Family Suites easily accommodate 4 adults in two bedrooms. The "front" bedroom has a kingsize double bed and a bathroom with bath and toilet. The second bedroom has either two single beds or a kingsize double bed and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. These rooms open onto an entrance area and lounge. The lounges also have a TV, DVD player, gas fire place and private patio.
The Self-Catering Cottages are privately owned and are let out to the public on behalf of the owners. They are not graded by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.
Each cottage has three bedrooms (one double and four single beds), three bathrooms (one with bath and shower, one with only a bath and one with only a shower) and an open plan living area with a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and a lounge with private patio. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. The lounge has a TV, fireplace and there is a braai on the patio. Cutlery, crockery, bath towels and linen are all provided.

Our intimate restaurant (with under-floor heating and log fireplace) is renowned for sumptuous local cuisine with innovative menus. In summer we eat outside on the Phumleni with the Amphitheatre view enhancing the delicious meals. Breakfast and dinner are included for lodge guests.

Doing nothing is probably the most sort after pastime at Montusi. No pressure, no wake up calls (in fact no telephone in the room), hot water all day long. Montusi is the best place to simply wind down and relax. Just enjoy our little bit of paradise and recharge the batteries.
