Yanbu

Yanbu was established thousands of years ago when early Egyptian traders crossed the Red Sea, establishing land routes into Jordan, to the north, and Jeddah, to the south. 
This area is referred to as Old Yanbu, the historical part of the town. Modern Yanbu is a short distance away. This city was developed along with Jubail in the Eastern Province as an industrial city. 

Yanbu' al Bahr which translates as  “spring by the sea” is an industrial and port city in Saudi Arabia, located on the Red Sea coast in Madinah Province, about 350 km (about 220 mi) north of Jeddah. About one third of the city’s 185 square kms consists of industrial sites. Whilst this may give the appearance of Yanbu being a rather dull destination in the Kingdom, it offers a very different perspective beneath the surface. Yanbu is one of the premier diving locations in Saudi Arabia and the destination offers a few internationally branded sea front hotels.

For pilgrims in Medina, Yanbu features some of the most beautiful beaches in the country and is located a short 2 hour drive from the Prophet’s Mosque. The shores are caressed by sunlight and coral reefs, presenting a unique and rarely seen landscape.
