Port Moresby

As the capital and largest city in Papua New Guinea, there are no shortages of things to do in Port Moresby. Whether you’ve been trekking through small towns and hiking in the jungle for weeks or you’re just arriving in Papua New Guinea, the relative sophistication and amenities of the city will be appreciated by all. If you’re lucky, you might even stumble upon a family of locals celebrating a wedding on the grounds. The city also offers a golf club and a national museum. The Ela Beach Craft Market is held on the last Saturday of every month and is run by an international school. You can find local artefacts from all over the country, carvings, handmade baskets and any number of other locally made goods to take home as souvenirs. The local drink of choice that can be found almost anywhere is South Pacific lager or SP beer. A step above that in quality is the SP Export lager.
